In a close game the Cleveland Indians got by the Houston Astros by the score
of 4 to 2.
Cleveland had the winning rally in the top of the 8th inning with 2 runs on 2
base hits. Jose Ramirez led off and started the rally when he drew a walk.
After an out was recorded, Bradley Zimmer came to bat and drew a walk. Yan
Gomes then lined a single knocking in a run. Carlos Santana came up and he
smacked a one-base hit scoring the final run of the inning. Houston out-hit
Cleveland 8 to 4, but Cleveland ended up with more runs.
The victory was credited to Carlos Carrasco(1-0) who went 7 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Carrasco was helped out by Cody Allen who recorded his 1st
save. Brad Peacock(0-1) was given the loss. He struck out 14 batters in 7
and 1/3 innings despite losing the game.

Carlos Martinez whiffed 12 batters and Yadier Molina blasted 2 homeruns and
had 3 RBI as the St. Louis Cardinals outscored the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers 6
to 1.
It was a good day for St. Louis thanks to Molina. He delivered a solo blast
in the 1st inning and popped a two-run clout over the fence in the 3rd
inning. St. Louis had 8 hits for the afternoon while Los Angeles(NL) had 2.
Martinez(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 7 and 2/3 innings and
allowing 1 run. Tyler Lyons earned the save, his 1st. The losing pitcher was
Clayton Kershaw(0-1). He served up 3 homeruns in his 4 innings.
The St. Louis fans were thrilled by the performance put forth by Martinez, but
it was clearly his strikeouts that they enjoyed most. 'When he reached 10
strikeouts the fans showed him their appreciation with a loud cheer.' Mike

Center fielder Charlie Blackmon had 2 base hits as the Colorado Rockies bested
the Washington Nationals 4 to 3 at Nationals Park.
The deciding run was scored by Colorado in the top of the 9th. Gerardo Parra
delivered a single. Trevor Story stepped into the batter's box and he
tripled scoring the run. Colorado rapped out 8 hits for the night.
Jake McGee(1-0) allowed no runs in 1/3 of an inning, and picked up the
victory. Chris Rusin got the save, his 1st. Enny Romero(0-1) suffered the
loss in relief.
