In a great finish the San Francisco Giants came back in the top of the ninth
and held on to win over the Arizona Diamondbacks by a score of 8 to 5 at
Chase Field.
San Francisco had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning as they
scored 4 runs on 3 base hits. Overall San Francisco out-hit Arizona 11 to 8.
The win went to Albert Suarez(4-1) who allowed 3 runs in 3 innings. Sam Dyson
preserved the game for Suarez, recording his his 7th save. Fernando
Rodney(3-3) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 4 runs and 3 hits in 2/3
of an inning.
After the game, it took a long while before Torey Lovullo emerged from his
office. In a subdued tone he answered only a couple of questions. He
concluded with, 'Fellows, sorry I'm not in a very talkative mood tonight, as
I think you'll understand. I'm sure you'll find the banter a lot more
light-hearted over in the San Francisco locker room.'

Mookie Betts cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Rick Porcello went the
distance at Fenway Park where the Boston Red Sox beat the Toronto Blue Jays 8
to 1.
Betts enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He slapped a single in the 1st
inning, bombed a two-run dinger in the 4th inning and smashed a solo-shot out
of the park in the 8th inning. Boston finished with 14 hits in the victory.
Porcello(4-4) finished the game allowing 1 run in the victory. Marco
Estrada(9-14) was tagged with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 7 runs in 5 and 2/3 innings.
