Ivan Nova had an impressive outing as the Pittsburgh Pirates outscored the St.
Louis Cardinals 3 to 0.
Pittsburgh jumped on top to stay in the bottom of the 2nd inning scoring one
runner. That was all the offense they were to need. Neither team managed to
score after the 3rd inning.
The victory was credited to Nova(10-16) who went 8 innings, allowing no runs.
Felipe Rivero recorded the save, his 34th. Luke Weaver(15-4) was the loser.

Yangervis Solarte slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI as the San Diego Padres
defeated the Colorado Rockies by a score of 4 to 1 at PETCO Park.
Phil Maton(5-8) contributed a very nice performance in relief. He was reached
for no hits and 1 walk in 1 and 1/3 innings. Brad Hand was perfect in relief
and got the save, his 33rd.
Jon Gray(12-11) took the loss. While he was the losing pitcher, he still
struck out 10 batters in 5 and 1/3 innings.

The Seattle Mariners and the Cleveland Indians locked up in an exciting
one-run game at SAFECO Field. The final score was the Seattle Mariners 3,
the Cleveland Indians 2.
Cleveland never recovered after Seattle took the lead in the bottom of the 7th
inning plating one baserunner. Kyle Seager blasted a solo shot. Both teams
totaled 4 hits on the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was David Phelps(6-9) who allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3
innings. Edwin Diaz preserved the game for Phelps, recording his his 43rd
save. Corey Kluber(23-6) suffered the loss. He surrendered only 3 runs and
4 hits in 8 innings.

up with 6 base hits. They would prove to be the difference in the contest.
Overall New York (AL) out-hit Toronto 13 to 5.
The win was credited to Kahnle(4-1) who went 4 innings allowing no runs. J.A.
