Riddle enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He hit a bases-empty home run in
the 3rd inning and rifled a three-run blast in the 4th inning. New York (NL)
tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
The victory was credited to Dustin McGowan(4-1) who went 1 and 1/3 innings,
allowing 2 runs. McGowan got help from Brad Ziegler who was credited with his
22nd save. A.J. Ramos(0-3) was charged with the loss in relief.
Terry Collins was reflective after the loss, 'We should have won this one, we
just made one too many mistakes. Son-of-a-gun, that added a couple more
white hairs on this noggin of mine.'
