In a dramatic ending at Chase Field the Arizona Diamondbacks won in their last
at-bat beating the Colorado Rockies by the count of 3 to 2.
The game was won by Arizona when they scored a run in the bottom of the 9th
inning. J.D. Martinez laced a base-knock. Brandon Drury next to the plate
and he banged out a single. Chris Owings then stroked a base-hit giving
Arizona the win and sending the home town fans into a frenzy. Colorado had 9
hits in the game while Arizona had 6, but Arizona had the more timely hits.
The winning pitcher was Andrew Chafin(2-2) who allowed no runs in 3 and 1/3
innings. Pat Neshek(7-6) absorbed the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 3
hits without retiring a batter.

Drew Pomeranz didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning as the Boston Red Sox
bested the Oakland Athletics 2 to 0 at Fenway Park.
Pomeranz(14-13) looked very much in control throughout the day. He allowed
just 4 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. The left-handed Pomeranz had his no-hit
bid broken up by Josh Phegley who doubled with two outs in the 6th inning.
Boston finished with just 3 hits in the victory.
Joe Kelly was credited with his 2nd save. Daniel Mengden(9-20) took the loss.

Tyler Lyons(12-3) was the winner as powerful St. Louis Cardinals shutout the
Cincinnati Reds by a 2 to 0 score at Busch Stadium.
St. Louis came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 8th inning with
2 runs. Tommy Pham got things going when he drew a walk. Pham took second
on a stolen base. Paul Dejong then cracked a two-run shot. St. Louis had
only 3 hits for the afternoon.
Trevor Rosenthal earned the save, his 27th. Robert Stephenson(2-17) ended up
with the loss. He pitched 7 innings allowing 3 hits and 5 walks.
