Jonathan Lucroy had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Chase Field where the Colorado Rockies
beat the Arizona Diamondbacks in 12 innings by the score of 12 to 9.
Both teams had scored 9 runs after nine full innings. Colorado came out the
victor in the 12th inning. Trevor Story led off and got things going when he
tripled. Lucroy was next and he lashed a single plating a run. Pat Valaika
then cracked a two-run shot. This was a game of many highs and lows for the
home town fans, as the lead kept changing - 7 times in all.
The win went to Jeff Hoffman(5-2) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Jake McGee got the save, his 5th. Anthony Banda(0-2) was the losing pitcher
in relief.

In a dramatic ending, the Cleveland Indians staged a comeback win over the
floundering Detroit Tigers by the count of 8 to 7.
Cleveland erupted with the game winning runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
with 2 runs using 2 hits. Michael Brantley kicked off the action when he
doubled. Edwin Encarnacion was next to bat, but he was a strikeout victim.
Jay Bruce then bombed a two-run dinger making Cleveland the victors to the
delight of the home town faithful. Cleveland had many opportunities
throughout the game and scored in 6 separate innings.
Zach McAllister(1-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 and 2/3 innings
and allowing no runs. Shane Greene(0-6) was tagged with the loss in relief.
'What a game!,' McAllister said afterward. 'When we won it I almost couldn't
believe it!'

one-run game at Kauffman Stadium. The final score was the Chicago (AL) White
Sox 6, the Kansas City Royals 5.
Avisail Garcia had a big day with his bat. He tripled knocking in a run in the
5th inning and rifled a three-run blast in the 6th inning. Chicago (AL)
out-hit Kansas City for the game, 12 hits to 7.
Michael Ynoa(3-3) went 4 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Juan Minaya
earned his 20th save. The losing pitcher was Danny Duffy(14-9). He allowed
a few too many baserunners giving up 10 hits and 3 walks in 5 and 1/3
innings.
The Chicago (AL) ballclub's record now stands at 50-93. With this loss,
Kansas City has a 4-6 record of late, 69-75 overall.
