Chicago (NL) Cubs beat the Milwaukee Brewers in 10 innings by the score of 3
to 2.
Both teams were tied at 2 runs apiece after nine innings. Chicago (NL) won
the hard fought contest in the 10th inning. Willson Contreras drew a walk.
Carlos Torres then let one slip out of his hand for a wild pitch. Jason
Heyward then lashed a single. Russell stepped in and he singled making
Chicago (NL) the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Chicago
(NL) out-hit Milwaukee for the game, 9 hits to 4.

Diamondbacks outscored the ice-cold San Diego Padres 6 to 2.
Greinke(19-14) earned his pay with a solid performance for Arizona. He went 7
and 2/3 innings and surrended up 5 hits and 1 walk and surrendered 2
homeruns. San Diego was out-hit by Arizona, 11 hits to 5.
Jhoulys Chacin(9-16) was charged with the loss. Andy Green was upset after
the game. 'I don't like to complain but did you see that umpires strike
zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling the strike zone the way
it's printed in the rule book.'

J.T. Realmuto hit one over the fence as the Miami Marlins bested the Atlanta
Braves 5 to 4 at SunTrust Park.
Dan Straily(12-16) pitched a solid game. He went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing 7
hits and 1 walk. Straily racked up 8 strikeouts and was touched for 3
homeruns. Atlanta had a chance in the 9th but they came up short.
Brad Ziegler preserved the game for Straily, recording his his 18th save.
Luiz Gohara(5-14) was hit with the loss. He allowed 3 runs and 7 hits in 5

Chris Sale whiffed 11 batters as the very strong Boston Red Sox won a dandy at
Fenway Park over the Tampa Bay Rays, 2 to 1.
The game was won by Boston when they scored a run in the 9th inning. After an
out was recorded, Xander Bogaerts ripped a single. Chase Whitley then let
loose a wild pitch. Rafael Devers then doubled making Boston the victor and
beginning a joyous home town celebration. Boston banged out 7 hits on the
night.
Sale(24-10) allowed 1 run on the game. The losing pitcher was Whitley(8-7) in
relief. Kevin Cash lamented, 'Sale was really aggressive tonight. He kept
coming after our hitters. Heck, why not. he kept sitting our guys down one
after another - like so many bowling pins!'
