Freddie Freeman ripped 3 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Atlanta Braves defeated
the Miami Marlins in 10 innings by a score of 8 to 7 at SunTrust Park.
Both teams had scored 7 runs after nine full innings. Atlanta ended up
winning it in the 10th inning. After an out was recorded, Freeman lofted a
solo-blast 'downtown' making Atlanta the winners and sending the 16,860 fans
home happy. Despite losing, Miami out-hit Atlanta 14 to 11.
The win was credited to Jason Motte(3-5) who went 2 innings allowing no runs.
Jarlin Garcia(8-4) ended up with the loss in relief.
'It's been a rough ride lately, but this was a good win for us' said Brian
Snitker, 'Maybe this will put us back on track.'

Carlos Rodon didn't allow a hit until the 6th inning as the Chicago (AL) White
Sox outscored the Cleveland Indians 5 to 0.
Rodon(7-15) was virtually untouchable. He didn't allow much, just 2 hits and
no walks in 9 innings. Rodon racked up 12 strikeouts. The left-handed Rodon
lost his no-hit bid when Brandon Guyer singled with nobody out in the 6th
inning. Chicago (AL) had only 5 hits for the night.
Danny Salazar(9-9) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered only 3 runs and 3
hits in 5 and 2/3 innings. Rodon was obviously very pleased with his
performance in the aftermath of the game, 'It was just one of those games
where everything worked. My arm felt great, heck, I could have pitched
another two or three innings. I only hope that I can do it again next time
out!'

Sam Gaviglio had a strong outing as the Kansas City Royals bested the
Minnesota Twins 6 to 1 at Kauffman Stadium.
Minnesota was unable to climb back into it after Kansas City went ahead for
good in the 4th inning as they scored 2 runs on 2 base hits. The highlight
belonged to Salvador Perez who made the crowd come alive when he lined a
single bringing home two baserunners. Kansas City ended up with 6 hits for
the game while Minnesota had 2.
The winning pitcher was Gaviglio(11-12) who allowed no runs in 6 and 1/3
innings. Mike Minor recorded his 10th save. Kyle Gibson(9-9) was tagged with
the loss.
