Philadelphia Phillies broke the deadlock in their last at bats, pulling out a
6 to 5 win over the Atlanta Braves and sending their hometown fans home
smiling.
Philadelphia scored the deciding run in the 9th inning. After two outs Rhys
Hoskins drew a walk. Maikel Franco stepped into the batter's box and he
doubled making Philadelphia the victors to the delight of the home town
faithful. Both teams ended up with 10 hits on the night.
Kevin Siegrist(5-7) went 1/3 of an inning allowing no runs for the win. Jose
Ramirez(5-3) absorbed the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 hit and 1 walk in
1 and 2/3 innings.

Chris Stratton came through with a solid 8 innings and Brandon Crawford hit
one over the fence and had 2 RBI as the sizzling San Francisco Giants
defeated the hapless San Diego Padres 3 to 1 at PETCO Park.
The game started off with San Francisco taking the lead in the first when they
tallied 2 runs on 3 hits. That early run support was enough for
Stratton(7-9) and San Francisco. San Francisco finished with 8 hits in the
victory.
Stratton got help from Mark Melancon who was credited with his 17th save.
Luis Perdomo(11-9) suffered the loss. San Francisco continued their winning
ways, with their streak now at 8 games and counting.

In a dramatic ending, the Toronto Blue Jays staged a comeback win over the
Boston Red Sox by the count of 4 to 3.
Toronto came through with the game-winning runs in the 9th inning plating 3
runs using 3 hits. Justin Smoak got things rolling when he lofted a
solo-blast 'downtown'. Jose Bautista stepped up next and he laced a
base-hit. Kendrys Morales then cracked a two-run shot making Toronto the
victor and beginning a joyous home town celebration. Boston had 9 hits in
the game while Toronto had 5, but Toronto had the more timely hits.
The win was credited to Ryan Tepera(4-5) who went 2 innings allowing 1 run.
Joe Kelly(3-1) took the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and no walks
without retiring a batter.
John Gibbons was all smiles after the ballgame, 'It sure was looking pretty
dim there for a while, but our guys never gave up - and neither did our fans
- they kept cheering us on. What a sweet win!'
