Shortstop Alcides Escobar had 4 hits and 2 RBI as the Kansas City Royals
defeated the struggling Chicago (AL) White Sox in 11 innings by a score of 4
to 2 at Guaranteed Rate Fld.
The score was knotted at 2 after nine innings. Finally, Kansas City pulled the
game out in the 11th inning. Eric Hosmer led off and got things going when
he banged out a single. Salvador Perez was next to bat, but he was a
strikeout victim. Raul Mondesi was next to the plate, but was promptly
struck out. Danny Farquhar then uncorked a wild one that found its way to
the backstop. Brandon Moss stepped into the box and smashed a two-run homer.
Kansas City totaled 10 hits on the night.
Joakim Soria(6-2) got the win allowing no runs in 1 and 2/3 innings. Juan
Minaya(3-7) took the loss in relief. He struggled with his control issuing 5
walks in 2 and 1/3 innings.

Ervin Santana had a complete game as the Minnesota Twins topped the Detroit
Tigers by a score of 10 to 3 at Comerica Park.
Eddie Rosario had a good evening at the plate. He lofted a three-run
'big-fly' in the 1st inning and ripped a one-base hit scoring two baserunners
in the 3rd inning. Minnesota rapped out 9 hits for the night.
The victory went to Santana(13-7) who went the distance allowing 3 runs. Buck
Farmer(3-12) was given the loss. With this win, Minnesota has a 63-52
