homeruns as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers by
a score of 7 to 1 at Chase Field.

The Philadelphia Phillies bested the Atlanta Braves by a 6 to 3 score at
SunTrust Park.
In the top of the 6th inning Philadelphia scored 3 runs when they had 4 base
hits. They would be enough to earn the win. Philadelphia finished with 7
hits in the victory.
The victory went to Aaron Nola(9-9) who went 6 innings, allowing 2 runs. Ian
Krol(2-4) took the loss in relief. He was knocked around pretty good, giving

Justin Verlander mowed down 14 Chicago (AL) batters as the strong Houston
Astros outscored the hopeless Chicago (AL) White Sox 8 to 0.
Yuli Gurriel was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine
day at their team's expense. He doubled bringing in two baserunners in the
4th inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 6th inning.
Houston totaled 12 hits on the night.
It was the 2nd shutout of the year for Verlander(15-9). Lucas Giolito(10-13)
ended up with the loss. He surrendered 9 hits and 3 walks in 7 and 2/3
innings.
Verlander, when asked about his 14 strikeout performance noted, 'The important
thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what good does it do our team?
But, on the other hand, since we won it feels great!'
