Jake Arrieta racked up an impressive total of 12 strikeouts at Wrigley Field
where the Chicago (NL) Cubs beat the floundering Arizona Diamondbacks by the
score of 3 to 1.
Arrieta(4-8) simply dominated Arizona. He surrendered only 2 hits and 2 walks
in 8 innings reducing his ERA from 4.32 to 4.09. Chicago (NL) had 9 hits for
the game and Arizona had 3.
Wade Davis got the save, his 33rd. Zack Godley(10-4) absorbed the loss.
Despite losing, he struckout 9 Chicago (NL) batters in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Arrieta was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good zip on my
pitches. Just as important, my location was right on. The fans really got
into the game too - that always helps me. Now, if I can only do that again
in my next outing.'

Jimmy Nelson dominated striking out 10 St. Louis batters as the Milwaukee
Brewers defeated the St. Louis Cardinals by the score of 4 to 3 at Miller
Park.
Nelson(8-7) had a strong outing. He gave up just 4 hits and 3 walks in 7
innings. St. Louis tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Nelson was helped out by Corey Knebel who recorded his 20th save. Michael
Wacha(5-6) was charged with the loss. He pitched 6 innings giving up only 4
hits and no walks.
'Everything felt great' Nelson said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could

2 RBI as the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers defeated the Atlanta Braves by a score
of 12 to 3 at SunTrust Park.
Kershaw(13-6) pitched a solid game. He didn't give up much, just 6 hits and 2
walks in 9 innings. Los Angeles(NL) totaled 13 hits on the night.
Luiz Gohara(5-11) was the loser. He was hit hard and gave up 10 hits and 2
walks in 5 innings. Kershaw, when asked about his 10 strikeout performance
noted, 'The important thing is that we won, if I get 20 and we lose, what
