Jason Vargas(5-7) delivered a fine performance for Kansas City. He

Right fielder Jay Bruce touched them all and had 2 RBI and Corey Kluber racked
up an impressive total of 13 strikeouts as the Cleveland Indians bested the
dreadful Chicago (AL) White Sox 7 to 1 at Guaranteed Rate Fld.
Kluber(15-4) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for the
Chicago (AL) batters. He allowed just 5 hits and no walks in 9 innings.
Cleveland managed 7 hits in their victory.
Carlos Rodon(4-12) ended up with the loss. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 4 runs in 3 and 1/3 innings. 'I had my good stuff today.' Kluber
said. 'As the game went along I started to get the feeling that I was going
to strike out a bunch of hitters.'

Justin Verlander dominated striking out 10 Detroit batters and Evan Gattis
smacked 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the very strong Houston Astros outscored
the Detroit Tigers 10 to 1.
Gattis was a one-man wrecking crew. He belted a three-run homer in the 1st
inning, ripped a base-knock in the 3rd inning, doubled resulting in a run in
the 4th inning and lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the
6th inning. Houston simply wore out the Detroit pitching staff, scoring in 6
different innings.
Verlander(14-9) got the victory, allowing 1 run for the game. The losing
pitcher was Matt Boyd(8-9). He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 and 2/3 innings of
work.
Verlander didn't realize how many strikeouts he was racking up. When told he
had 10 he was obviously surprised, 'No kidding? Man, I knew that I had a
decent total, but I didn't think I had K'd that many. Say, that's pretty
good, isn't it?'
