Kyle Hendricks reeled off a total of 10 strikeouts at Wrigley Field where the
Chicago (NL) Cubs beat the Chicago (AL) White Sox by the score of 3 to
1.
Hendricks(13-7) was very good in the win. He was stingy on the mound,
allowing just 5 hits and 1 walk in 7 innings. Chicago (NL) had just 6 hits
for the afternoon.
Wade Davis gained credit for his 28th save. Lucas Giolito(10-11) was the
loser. He was stingy with the baserunners, allowing just 4 hits and no walks
in 6 innings.
Rick Renteria was upset after the game. 'I don't like to complain but did you
see that umpires strike zone?', he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling
the strike zone the way it's printed in the rule book.'

Left fielder Matt Kemp knocked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI at Chase Field as the
Atlanta Braves staged a comeback win over the Arizona Diamondbacks by the
count of 13 to 12.
Atlanta had the game winning rally in the top of the 9th inning plating 2 runs
utilizing 2 base hits. Jace Peterson led off and he drew a walk. After an
out was recorded, Peterson took off for second and slid in with a stolen
base. Danny Santana then lashed a single knocking in a run. Ender Inciarte
followed next and he drew a walk. Ozzie Albies followed, but he was set down
on strikes. Freddie Freeman kept the rally going and laced a one-base hit
scoring the final run of the inning. This was the kind of game that many
fans love as the lead changed hands 5 times.
Jim Johnson(8-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 2/3 of an inning and
allowing no runs. Jose Ramirez recorded his 6th save. Fernando Rodney(2-2)
took the loss in relief. He allowed Atlanta 3 runs in 2 innings of work.
'Brian Snitker was estatic following the game, 'You love stealing one on the
road like this. We just kept plugging away until we pulled it out!'

Miguel Cabrera cracked 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI and Michael Fulmer whiffed 12
batters as the Detroit Tigers outscored the Kansas City Royals 9 to
3.
Cabrera punished Kansas City with his bat. He popped a two-run clout over the
fence in the 1st inning, smacked a three-run homer in the 6th inning and
doubled in the 8th inning. Detroit rapped out 14 hits for the night.
The win was credited to Fulmer(9-6) who went the whole way allowing 3 runs.
Sam Gaviglio(6-9) was charged with the loss. He was knocked around,
surrendering 6 runs in 2 innings.
Everyone seemed to enjoy the performance of Fulmer - except Kansas City. Ned
Yost lamented, 'He just was 'on' tonight. He was keeping our guys off
balance all game. A fine game by a good strikeout pitcher - makes it a fun
game for the hometown fans - unfortunately we were the visitors!'
