Tommy Pham ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Wrigley Field as the St. Louis
Cardinals beat the Chicago (NL) Cubs by the count of 11 to 10.
Pham had a good day at the plate. He blasted a two-run home run in the 1st
inning and cleared the fences for a two-run home run in the 2nd inning.
Chicago (NL) threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Tyler Lyons(9-2) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the win. Lyons got help
from Trevor Rosenthal who was credited with his 17th save. The loss was
charged to Koji Uehara(3-5) in relief.
'It's a disheartening loss, no question about it' said Joe Maddon 'But we have
to get over it and get ready for the next game.'

Yangervis Solarte hit a homerun and had 4 RBI as the San Diego Padres defeated
the hapless San Francisco Giants by the score of 7 to 3 at AT&T Park.
San Diego brought 3 runs across the plate in the 4th inning. The key
offensive moment was provided by Solarte who quieted the crowd when he belted
a three-run homer. San Diego had 11 hits overall, while San Francisco had 6.
Luis Perdomo(9-5) got credit for the victory, pitching 5 innings and allowing
2 runs. Johnny Cueto(2-10) was the loser. He was knocked around pretty good,
giving up 6 runs in 5 innings.

Max Scherzer reeled off a total of 13 strikeouts and Anthony Rendon slammed 2
homeruns and had 3 RBI as the potent Washington Nationals outscored the
Arizona Diamondbacks 3 to 2.
Rendon enjoyed a big evening at the plate. He bombed a two-run dinger in the
5th inning and blasted a solo shot in the 7th inning. Arizona could do no
damage in the bottom of the 9th.
Scherzer(17-2) finished the game allowing 2 runs in the victory. Zack
Greinke(14-8) was the losing pitcher. He surrendered just 3 hits and no
walks in 6 innings.
'Scherzer was the man tonight,' Dusty Baker said. 'He had just about every
pitch working.'
