Anthony Rendon had 4 hits and 5 RBI as the phenomenal Washington Nationals
man-handled the Cincinnati Reds - the final score was 17 to 3.
Rendon provided much of the offense. He doubled plating two runs in the 1st
inning, doubled in the 5th inning, banged out a single scoring a run in the
6th inning and hit a bases-empty home run in the 9th inning. Washington lit
up the scoreboard in the 9th inning when they had 6 runs on 4 hits. The
Washington offense smacked the Cincinnati pitching staff around, scoring in 7
of the 9 innings.
The victory went to Tanner Roark(6-4) who went 8 and 2/3 innings, allowing 3
runs. The loss was charged to Robert Stephenson(2-9). He gave up 5 runs in 3
innings of work.
'The ball was jumping off my bat' Rendon said. 'I didn't do anything
differently, it's the same way I always approach the game.'

Johan Camargo touched them all and Mike Foltynewicz struck out 12 batters at
SunTrust Park as the Atlanta Braves beat the Chicago (NL) Cubs 6 to
0.
Foltynewicz(5-7) was very good in the win. He allowed just 6 hits and 5 walks
in 9 innings dropping his ERA from 5.53 to 4.98. Atlanta finished with 8
hits in the victory.
Mike Montgomery(6-10) took the loss. Atlanta knocked him around a bit, as he
gave up 6 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings. 'Everything felt great' Foltynewicz
said. 'I had a good fastball, I felt I could throw it by everybody tonight.'

Donnie Hart went 3 strong innings and catcher Welington Castillo went deep and
had 3 RBI as the Baltimore Orioles came back to win one over Texas Rangers, 8
to 7.
Baltimore came up with the deciding runs in the 9th inning with 2 runs. After
two outs Chris Davis opened up the rally as he drew a walk. Trey Mancini
followed and he clubbed a two-run home run giving Baltimore the victory as
25,612 happy fans celebrated wildly. Baltimore had 13 hits overall, while
Texas had 8.
Darren O'Day(3-2) went 1 and 2/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Tony Barnette(0-2) absorbed the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 1
hit without retiring a batter.
Buck Showalter was in great spirits in his post-game interview. Yet, when
asked about his feelings after the thrilling comeback victory, he
volunteered, 'I'll tell you this much - I know how my counterpart, Jeff
Bannister, feels right now - and it's not very good. It's terrible when you
come up on the short end of one of these!'
