Paul Goldschmidt went yard and had 2 RBI as the Arizona Diamondbacks defeated
the Atlanta Braves in 12 innings 7 to 6 at SunTrust Park.
The game was deadlocked at 6 after nine full innings. Finally, Arizona
prevailed in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Jake Lamb drew a
walk. J.D. Martinez was next and he doubled. Brandon Drury then slapped a
base-hit scoring the run. This was the kind of game that many fans love as
the lead changed hands 5 times.
T.J. McFarland(3-4) got credit for the victory, pitching 1 inning and allowing
no runs. Jorge De La Rosa preserved the game for McFarland, recording his his
1st save. The loss was charged to Jason Motte(1-3) in relief. He pitched 2
and 2/3 innings giving up 3 hits and 2 walks.

Kevin Gausman dominated striking out 11 Chicago (NL) batters as the Baltimore
Orioles defeated the Chicago (NL) Cubs by a score of 5 to 1 at Camden
Yards.
Adam Jones made sure the Baltimore fans enjoyed themselves. He caught a hold
of a fastball for a Grand Slam homerun in the 4th inning and doubled in the
7th inning. Baltimore totaled 7 hits on the night.
Gausman(8-12) allowed 1 run in 8 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the victory.
Gausman got relief help from Brad Brach who gained credit for his 6th save.
Jose Quintana(9-9) absorbed the loss. Baltimore scored big getting 4 runs
off him in 3 and 1/3 innings.
When asked about his strikeout total for the game, Gausman offered, 'The fan's
really got into it. It is fun to see them tally up the strikeout totals up
there in the stands. Fortunately, I kept them busy tonight - of course, it
would be all for naught without the 'W'.'
