First baseman Anthony Rizzo hit 2 doubles and had 2 RBI at Wrigley Field where
the Chicago (NL) Cubs beat the Tampa Bay Rays 5 to 2.
Hector Rondon(1-2) slammed the door shut in an excellent relief performance.
He went 3 and 1/3 innings allowing no hits and 2 walks. Chicago (NL)
finished with 12 hits while Tampa Bay ended up with 6.
Rondon got relief help from Wade Davis who gained credit for his 24th save.
Chase Whitley(5-4) absorbed the loss in relief.
When questioned, Joe Maddon remarked, 'It's been a while since a win felt this
good - heck, it's been a while since we had a win period!'

In a thriling finish the Atlanta Braves pulled off the win over the Houston
Astros by a score of 7 to 6 at SunTrust Park.
Atlanta won the game with a run in the bottom of the 9th inning. Freddie
Freeman was hit by a pitch. Chris Devenski then unleashed a wild pitch.
After an out was recorded, Nick Markakis then stroked a base-hit making
Atlanta the victors to the delight of the home town faithful. Atlanta
managed 7 hits in their victory.
Jim Johnson(6-5) picked up the victory, allowing no runs in 1 inning.
Devenski(5-2) was the loser in relief. He surrendered 1 run and 1 hit in 1
and 1/3 innings.

In a tight game it was the Colorado Rockies 8, the Cincinnati Reds 6 at Coors
Field.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Jonathan Lucroy. He doubled scoring two baserunners in the 2nd
inning, tripled which scored a run in the 4th inning and doubled scoring a
run in the 7th inning. Colorado totaled 9 hits on the night.
Chris Rusin(3-1) went 1 inning allowing no runs for the victory. Rusin got
help from Greg Holland who earned his 18th save. The loss was charged to Sal
Romano(4-11). Colorado scored big getting 6 runs off him in 5 and 2/3
innings.
