Rich Hill racked up an impressive total of 11 strikeouts at PETCO Park as the
Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers beat the San Diego Padres 8 to 1.
Hill(11-4) pitched a solid game. He allowed only 2 hits and 4 walks in 7
innings. Los Angeles(NL) had 10 hits overall, while San Diego had 3.
Jordan Lyles(3-3) took the loss. By giving up 5 runs in 5 innings his ERA
increased from 3.12 to 3.54. Hill didn't realize how many strikeouts he was

Tommy Pham had 2 base hits as the St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Washington
Nationals 6 to 2 at Busch Stadium.
St. Louis delivered all the runs required in the 6th inning as they scored 6
runs on 6 base hits. The crucial at-bat was provided by Jedd Gyorko who came
through for the home fans when he belted a three-run homer. Both teams ended
up with 8 hits on the night.
The victory went to Matt Bowman(3-0) who went 1 inning, allowing no runs. Juan
Nicasio recorded his 4th save. Gio Gonzalez(10-7) was the loser. He gave up
