Jay Bruce homered at Progressive Field as the Cleveland Indians staged a
comeback win over the Texas Rangers by the count of 6 to 5.
Cleveland scored the decisive runs in a big bottom of the 9th inning with 2
runs utilizing 2 base hits. Carlos Santana led off and started the attack as
he drew a walk. After an out was recorded, Michael Brantley stepped up to
the plate and he stroked a one-base hit. Brantley got a great jump and stole
second easily. Edwin Encarnacion was the next batter, but he struck out.
Bruce stepped into the box and drew a walk to load the bases. Jose Ramirez
extended the rally and smacked a single making Cleveland the winners and
sending the 32,830 fans home happy. Both teams ended up with 10 hits on the
night.
Andrew Miller(5-0) got the win allowing no runs in 2 and 1/3 innings. Matt
Bush(2-1) was hit with the loss in relief. 'Now there is a lesson in
perseverance for you,' Bruce noted. 'It was looking pretty dim there for a
while, but we just kept plugging away and it really paid off in spades! And
it was great to see the crowd go crazy there at the end!'
