Right fielder Giancarlo Stanton had 4 hits and 2 RBI at SunTrust Park as the
Miami Marlins beat the Atlanta Braves by the count of 9 to 3.
Stanton led the offense for Miami. He doubled in the 1st inning, lined a
one-base hit in the 3rd inning, doubled in the 7th inning and lifted one out
of the park for a two run home run in the 8th inning. Overall Miami out-hit
Atlanta 19 to 6.

Shortstop Tim Beckham hit 2 doubles as the Baltimore Orioles defeated the St.
Louis Cardinals 5 to 4 at Camden Yards.
Baltimore took the lead for good in the 7th inning as they scored 2 runs on 3
base hits. St. Louis threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
The winning pitcher was Gabriel Ynoa(2-1) who allowed 1 run in 3 and 1/3
innings. Zach Britton was credited with his 8th save. Adam Wainwright(2-2)
was given the loss. He was unable to control the Baltimore offense and
allowed 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
'Ahhh, that victory was surely needed. Man alive, things were getting awfully
grim,' noted Buck Showalter. 'Now, we need to string a bunch of wins
together and turn things around!'

Right fielder Carlos Gonzalez had 2 base hits as the Colorado Rockies won in
dramatic fashion over the floundering San Francisco Giants by a score of 5 to
4 at Coors Field.
Colorado won the game with a rally in the bottom of the 9th inning plating 2
runs utilizing 2 base hits. Charlie Blackmon led off and keyed the rally
when he was hit by a pitch. After an out was recorded, Nolan Arenado stepped
up to the plate and he banged out a single. Mark Reynolds then drew a walk
to load the bases. Gerardo Parra came up and he delivered a base-hit giving
Colorado the win as 43,132 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Colorado had 11
hits for the afternoon.
Scott Oberg(2-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Mark Melancon(0-1)
was hit with the loss in relief. Oberg and Gonzalez were really whooping it
up in the clubhouse after the great come from behind victory. As Bud Black
noted, 'A win like this one can do wonders for a team's attitude.' Everyone
