Carlos Rodon retired 13 batters on strikeouts at Guaranteed Rate Fld as the
Chicago (AL) White Sox beat the floundering Baltimore Orioles by the count of
7 to 1.
Rodon(3-7) was on top of his game. He was stingy on the mound, allowing just
6 hits and no walks in 9 innings. Chicago (AL) simply wore out the Baltimore
pitching staff, scoring in 6 different innings.
Kevin Gausman(5-9) was tagged with the loss. He got hit pretty hard, allowing
11 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 2/3 innings. 'He was moving it around and
spotting it very well.' Buck Showalter said. Rodon pitched a great game. He
deserves all the credit.'

Danny Salazar reeled off a total of 13 strikeouts as the Cleveland Indians
defeated the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers 6 to 1 at Progressive
Field.
Salazar(3-4) had a strong outing. He didn't give up much, just 7 hits and 3
walks in 9 innings improving his ERA from 5.28 to 4.58. Neither team managed
to score after the 3rd inning.
The losing pitcher was Clayton Kershaw(6-5). He served up 3 gopher balls in 7
innings. 'Everything felt great' Salazar said. 'I had a good fastball, I
felt I could throw it by everybody today.'

Shortstop Jean Segura had 3 base hits and 2 RBI as the Seattle Mariners
outscored the Minnesota Twins 9 to 8.
Felix Hernandez(5-7) pitched okay, well enough for the win. He went 5 and 2/3
innings allowing 7 hits and 2 walks. Minnesota made it exciting in the 9th,
but they were unable to push the needed runs across.
Jose Berrios(6-5) was the loser. Paul Molitor was subdued when questioned
after the game, 'Sure, this kind of loss takes a while to get over, but heck,
we're all professionals. We've been through this many times - it's the
nature of the game. We'll be fine - as for me - I'll be ready to go again
tomorrow!'

Tyler Anderson(2-4) and Jeff Samardzija(6-10) dueled it out with Anderson and
the Colorado Rockies coming out on top of the ice-cold San Francisco Giants
by the score of 3 to 1.
Colorado came up with all the runs they needed in the 5th inning scoring 3
runs using 3 hits. Mark Reynolds started the inning off right when he drew a
walk. Gerardo Parra followed and he stroked a single. Trevor Story then
doubled plating a run. After another out, Anderson dug into the batters box
next, but he struck out. Charlie Blackmon came to the plate and was walked
intentionally to load the bases. D.J. Lemahieu continued the rally and
slapped a single with two more runners crossing home. Colorado had only 6
hits for the night.
Greg Holland recorded his 13th save.
