Aaron Nola had an impressive outing and second baseman Cesar Hernandez had 2
base hits at Fenway Park where the Philadelphia Phillies beat the Boston Red
Sox 1 to 0.
Nola(5-5) simply dominated Boston. He gave up just 3 hits and 1 walk in 7 and
1/3 innings. Nola whiffed an impressive total of 9 Boston batters lowering
his ERA from 4.34 to 4.02. Boston tried unsuccessfully to come back in the
9th.
Kevin Siegrist earned his 1st save. Drew Pomeranz(8-5) ended up with the
loss. He pitched 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 6 hits and 3 walks. John Farrell
was clearly disappointed after the game. 'It was a manager's nightmare out
there', he said, 'We should have had this one.'

At Progressive Field the Los Angeles(NL) Dodgers outdistanced the Cleveland
Indians by a final score of 7 to 3.
Los Angeles(NL) jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating one
baserunner. Chris Taylor reached on an error. Carlos Carrasco then had one
get away for a wild pitch. After an out was recorded, Justin Turner then
doubled scoring the run. Overall Los Angeles(NL) out-hit Cleveland 11 to 8.
Alex Wood(8-4) allowed 3 runs in 7 and 2/3 innings, and picked up the victory.
Kenley Jansen was credited with his 21st save. Carrasco(5-10) took the loss.

With the crowd on their collective feet, screaming at the top of their lungs,
Houston Astros rallied to top Texas Rangers by the score of 5 to 4.
Houston scored the decisive runs in a big 9th inning with 3 runs using 5 hits.
Brian McCann led off the inning for Houston when he stroked a one-base hit.
Yuli Gurriel was next and he doubled. Marwin Gonzalez then delivered a
base-hit scoring two teammates. Alex Bregman followed next and he laced a
base-knock. George Springer came up to bat and drew a walk to load the
bases. Josh Reddick contributed to the rally and ripped a single making
Houston victorious to the delight of the the home town crowd. Houston ended
up with 12 hits for the game while Texas had 6.
James Hoyt(2-1) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Alex Claudio(1-5)
was hit with the loss in relief. 'We just wouldn't give up,' Springer said.
'Much of the credit goes to our fans - they were with us the whole way.'
