Wilmer Flores had 3 base hits as the New York (NL) Mets beat the Atlanta
Braves by a score of 4 to 2.
New York (NL) won the game with a run in the top of the 8th inning. Flores
delivered a base-hit, and an error was also committed. Travis D'Arnaud
stepped into the batter's box and he doubled scoring the run. Paul Sewald
was perfect in the ninth giving him his 3rd save on the season.
The winning pitcher was Jerry Blevins(2-4) who allowed no runs in 1/3 of an
inning. Luiz Gohara(3-8) absorbed the loss. The New York (NL) ballclub's
record now stands at 29-33. With the loss, Atlanta has a record of 6-4

Chris Sale whiffed 14 batters as the spectacular Boston Red Sox defeated the
Detroit Tigers by a score of 5 to 2 at Fenway Park.
Sale(13-2) was in control of the game from the outset. He didn't give up
much, just 5 hits and 3 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. Boston finished with 7
hits in the victory.
Sale was helped out by Craig Kimbrel who recorded his 28th save. Daniel
Norris(3-9) was hit with the loss. Sale was pleased with his performance.
He noted, 'I had good zip on my pitches. Just as important, my location was
right on. The fans really got into the game too - that always helps me.
Now, if I can only do that again in my next outing.'

German Marquez had a strong outing and second baseman D.J. Lemahieu had 3 base
hits and 2 RBI as the Colorado Rockies defeated the Chicago (NL) Cubs 7 to 5
at Wrigley Field.
Colorado brought 4 runs across the plate in the 7th inning with the help of 4
hits. The key offensive moment was provided by Nolan Arenado who silenced
Wrigley Field as he clubbed a three-run home run. Both teams ended up with 9
hits on the afternoon.
Marquez(7-3) got the win allowing 1 run in 6 innings. Marquez got help from
Greg Holland who was credited with his 11th save. Mike Montgomery(5-5) was
