Charlie Blackmon had 5 hits and 3 RBI at Wrigley Field as the Colorado Rockies
beat the Chicago (NL) Cubs by the count of 11 to 5.
Blackmon enjoyed a big day at the plate. He delivered a one-base hit in the
1st inning, tripled in the 2nd inning, lashed a single resulting in a run in
the 4th inning, tripled in the 7th inning and lined a base-hit scoring two
baserunners in the 7th inning. Chicago (NL) was out-hit by Colorado, 14 hits
to 7.
The victory was credited to Kyle Freeland(5-3) who went 5 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 2 runs. Jose Quintana(6-7) was the loser. While he was the losing
pitcher, he still struck out 10 batters in 6 innings.

The Arizona Diamondbacks got by the Milwaukee Brewers at Chase Field. The
final score was 5 to 3.
Arizona came through with the game-winning runs in the bottom of the 8th
inning plating 2 runs utilizing 3 base hits. After two were out David
Peralta was the sparkplug when he hit a single. Paul Goldschmidt came next
and he doubled. Jacob Barnes then let loose a wild pitch knocking in a run.
Jake Lamb was up next and he banged out a single scoring the final run of the
inning. Archie Bradley(6-1) got relief help from Fernando Rodney who was
excellent in relief and gained credit for his 24th save.
Barnes(5-3) suffered the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 runs and 2 hits in
2/3 of an inning.

Barnes came on to close the door tight in relief. No one was able to reach

victory.
Craig Kimbrel preserved the game for Barnes, recording his his 27th save. The
