Win:Chacin(4-9) Loss:Marquez(5-3) Save:Hand(15th)
Homeruns- W.Myers(9th), E.Aybar(2nd)
Jhoulys Chacin(4-9) and German Marquez(5-3) dueled it out with Chacin and the
San Diego Padres coming out on top of the Colorado Rockies by the score of 3
to 1.
San Diego set the tone of the game in the first inning plating an isolated run
on 2 hits. Manuel Margot stroked a one-base hit. Carlos Asuaje stepped up
to the plate and he grounded into a double play. Wil Myers then smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly'. Chacin got help from Brad Hand who pitched great and
earned his 15th save.
Andy Green was just happy to get a win, 'We've had such a bad streak of games
-- boy, it's great to get the monkey off our back. Now maybe we can relax a
little and play the kind of baseball of which we are capable.'

Win:Phelps(4-3) Loss:Colome(1-3)
Homeruns- L.Morrison(12th), S.Souza Jr(13th), K.Kiermaier(5th), N.Cruz-2(18th)
Designated hitter Nelson Cruz rocketed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Seattle
Mariners defeated the Tampa Bay Rays 9 to 7 at SAFECO Field.
It seemed that Tampa Bay pitching was serving up softballs for Cruz to hit.
He clubbed a three-run home run in the 3rd inning, delivered a solo blast in
the 7th inning and doubled knocking in a run in the 8th inning. Tampa Bay
was set down quietly in the 9th.
David Phelps(4-3) allowed no runs in 1 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Alex Colome(1-3) ended up with the loss in relief. 'Some days it
just all comes together, and this was one of them' Cruz said. 'I've been
seeing the ball pretty well lately.'

Win:Hamels(8-4) Loss:Verlander(7-6)
Homeruns- E.Andrus(8th), R.Odor(10th)
Cole Hamels whitewashed Houston on 2 hits at Globe Life Park as the Texas
Rangers beat the Houston Astros by the count of 4 to 0.
Hamels(8-4) was tremendous on the mound for Texas. He gave up just 2 hits and
2 walks in 9 innings. Hamels racked up 10 strikeouts dropping his ERA from
4.32 to 3.89. The pitchers took over after the 3rd inning as neither team
was able to score again.
Justin Verlander(7-6) was the loser. 'Hamels gave us exactly what we needed
tonight.' Jeff Bannister said. 'When he threw the fastball he threw it for
strikes. They were really fooled by his change. Most of the time he had
them chasing it.'
