Chris Sale racked up an impressive total of 13 strikeouts at Guaranteed Rate
Fld as the Boston Red Sox beat the Chicago (AL) White Sox in 12 innings by
the count of 5 to 3.
Both teams had scored 3 runs after nine full innings. Finally, Boston pulled
the game out in the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Dustin Pedroia
keyed the rally when he drew a walk. One out later, Hanley Ramirez came to
the plate and drew a walk. Sam Travis then doubled plating two runs. Both
teams finished the game with 8 hits.
The victory was credited to Joe Kelly(1-0) who went 1/3 of an inning, allowing
no runs. Craig Kimbrel gained credit for his 22nd save. Juan Minaya(3-4)
absorbed the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 hit and 2 walks in 1 inning.
Boston continued on their recent roll, their winning streak now reaching 6
games and counting. 'We've really come alive lately,' John Farrell said. 'We
won some tough games and I feel real good about this ballclub right now, and
hopefully we'll continue the roll we're on.'

Danny Salazar struck out 10 batters at Progressive Field where the Cleveland
Indians beat the Oakland Athletics in 11 innings by the score of 4 to 3.
The score was knotted at 3 after nine innings. Finally, Cleveland prevailed
in the 11th inning. Francisco Lindor lined a base-hit. Jose Ramirez stepped
up next and he doubled. After an out was recorded, Carlos Santana then laced
a single giving Cleveland the win much to the delight of the home town crowd.
Both teams ended up with 9 hits on the afternoon.
Joe Smith(2-0) went 1 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory. Blake
Treinen(1-4) was hit with the loss in relief. He allowed 2 runs and 3 hits
in 1 and 2/3 innings.

Mark Reynolds slammed 2 homeruns and had 5 RBI as the Colorado Rockies
outscored the Seattle Mariners 11 to 7.
The home town fans were very appreciative of the fine hitting performance
provided by Reynolds. He lofted a three-run 'big-fly' in the 1st inning and
lifted one out of the park for a two run home run in the 5th inning.
Colorado rapped out 19 hits for the afternoon.
The winning pitcher was Scott Oberg(1-1) who allowed no runs in 1 and 2/3
innings. Yovani Gallardo(0-2) was the loser in relief. He allowed 9 hits and
2 walks in 3 innings.
