At SunTrust Park the Pittsburgh Pirates outscored the ice-cold Atlanta Braves
10 to 7.
Josh Bell enjoyed a big day at the plate. He doubled scoring two baserunners
in the 1st inning, tripled in the 8th inning and lofted a three-run bomb in
the 9th inning. Both teams ended up with 12 hits on the afternoon.
The win went to Daniel Hudson(1-1) who allowed no runs in 2/3 of an inning.
Hudson got help from Felipe Rivero who was credited with his 13th save. Jim
Johnson(2-4) was the loser in relief.
'I was in my hotel room the other night, working on my swing and made some
adjustments,' Bell said. 'I'm always working on it. If they are getting you
out certain ways, you've got to make changes.'

Ian Happ left the yard and had 4 RBI and Kyle Hendricks completed the game
without help from the bullpen at Wrigley Field where the Chicago (NL) Cubs
beat the San Francisco Giants by the score of 13 to 6.
Happ helped send the fans home happy. He doubled plating two runs in the 1st
inning, ripped a one-base hit in the 3rd inning and bombed a two-run dinger
in the 8th inning. Chicago (NL) had many opportunities throughout the game
and scored in 6 separate innings.
The winning pitcher was Hendricks(5-5) who allowed 6 runs for the game. Ty
Blach(2-4) suffered the loss. He got hammered, allowing 8 hits and 3 walks
in 4 innings.
Chicago (NL) now has a record of 17-30. With the loss San Francisco now has a
record of 22-27.

In a thriling finish the Philadelphia Phillies pulled off the win over the
Colorado Rockies by a score of 5 to 4 at Citizens Bank Park.
Philadelphia scored the deciding run in the 9th inning. After two were out
Cesar Hernandez stroked a base-hit. Freddy Galvis stepped up next and he
doubled giving Philadelphia the victory and sending the 15,481 home-town fans
home happy. Philadelphia managed 10 hits in their victory.
Hector Neris(1-1) got the win allowing 1 run in 1 inning. The losing pitcher
was Pat Neshek(3-2) in relief. He allowed 2 hits and no walks in 2/3 of an
inning.
