Jimmy Nelson reeled off a total of 11 strikeouts as the Milwaukee Brewers
topped the Boston Red Sox by a score of 3 to 0 at Miller Park.
Nelson(2-3) dominated Boston hitters. He surrendered only 3 hits and 1 walk
in 8 innings dropping his ERA from 3.18 to 2.75. Nelson got relief help from
Corey Knebel who was excellent in relief and gained credit for his 8th save.
Drew Pomeranz(5-2) was hit with the loss. Craig Counsell was asked about the
performance of Nelson, 'He had his good stuff out there this afternoon. The
fans really get into it when the strikeouts start mounting up - and that
seems to give him even more adrenalin.'

Brad Miller blasted 2 homeruns and had 6 RBI as the Tampa Bay Rays defeated
the Kansas City Royals 8 to 3 at Tropicana Field.
Miller really 'lit it up' for Tampa Bay. He lofted a three-run bomb in the
4th inning, doubled scoring a run in the 6th inning and smashed a two-run
homer in the 8th inning. Although they lost, Kansas City did out-hit Tampa
Bay 11 to 6.
Alex Cobb(2-4) was the winner allowing 1 run in 7 innings. Cobb got help from
Alex Colome who was credited with his 8th save. The losing pitcher was Jake
Junis(2-4).
'I had good swings today,' Miller said, 'Everything felt right'.

Francisco Cervelli smacked 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI and Ivan Nova was able to
finish what he started and was credited with a complete game at Chase Field
as the Pittsburgh Pirates belted the Arizona Diamondbacks by the count of 13
to 2.
Cervelli was a seemingly constant irritant to the hometown fans as he provided
much of the offense for the visitors. He cleared the fences for a two-run
home run in the 3rd inning and bombed a two-run dinger in the 4th inning.
Pittsburgh had 14 hits for the night.
Nova(2-4) allowed 2 runs on the game. Robbie Ray(3-4) ended up with the loss.
He was not very effective, surrendering 7 runs in 2 innings.

Jason Castro connected with a 'big fly' and had 2 RBI as the Minnesota Twins
bested the Chicago (AL) White Sox 8 to 7 at Guaranteed Rate Fld.
Minnesota took the lead for keeps in the 7th inning scoring 2 runs using 3
hits. Robbie Grossman led off and started the attack as he smacked a single.
Miguel Sano came to the plate and ripped a one-base hit. Joe Mauer was next
to the plate, but was promptly struck out. Max Kepler followed next and he
drew a walk to load the bases. After another out, Jorge Polanco came to bat
and delivered a base-hit scoring two baserunners. Minnesota took care of
Chicago (AL) with no trouble in the bottom of the 9th.
Buddy Boshers(2-0) allowed 2 runs in 2 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Boshers got relief help from Matt Belisle who gained credit for his
6th save. Reynaldo Lopez(1-5) was the loser. He got hit pretty hard,
allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 6 innings.
