36,100 fans were treated to a fine game at Kauffman Stadium as only one run
separated the combatants at game's end. The Cleveland Indians offense put up
4 runs on the scoreboard in the 8th inning and won by the slimmest of
margins, 6 to 5.
Cleveland erupted with the game winning runs in the top of the 8th inning when
they came up with 4 runs on 6 hits. The biggest moment was provided by
Roberto Perez who quieted the home crowd when he bombed a two-run dinger.
Kansas City made it exciting in the 9th, but they were unable to push the
needed runs across.
The victory went to Bryan Shaw(2-1) who went 2 and 2/3 innings, allowing no
runs. Shaw got relief help from Cody Allen who gained credit for his 12th
save. Mike Minor(2-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He surrendered 4
runs in 1 and 2/3 innings and saw his ERA increase from 1.78 to 3.00.
Mike Moustakas rocketed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI but it wasn't enough for
Kansas City.

Eddie Rosario had 4 hits and 4 RBI as the Minnesota Twins clobbered the
outmatched Boston Red Sox, 21 to 2.
Rosario made sure the Minnesota fans enjoyed themselves. He doubled in the
2nd inning, lined a base-hit scoring a run in the 3rd inning, stroked a
one-base hit in the 5th inning and stroked a single which was good for two
runs in the 8th inning. Minnesota bats were hot in the 3rd inning when they
had 13 runs on 9 hits. For the game Minnesota out-hit Boston 21 to 10.
Kyle Gibson(2-1) went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 2 runs for the win. Rick
Porcello(1-3) was given the loss. He surrendered 3 runs and 3 hits in 1 and
1/3 innings.

Left fielder Peter Bourjos cracked a homer as the Tampa Bay Rays bested the
slumping Toronto Blue Jays 5 to 4 at Tropicana Field.
Tampa Bay scored the winning runs in the bottom of the 8th inning scoring 3
runs on 3 base hits. Evan Longoria kicked off the action when he drew a
walk. After another out, Wilson Ramos was a strikeout victim, unable to help
out. Daniel Robertson then lined a one-base hit resulting in a run. Adeiny
Hechavarria was up next and he tripled plating one more runner. Kevin
Kiermaier came up to bat and delivered a base-hit scoring the final run of
the inning. Toronto threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short.
Jose Alvarado(1-0) got the win allowing no runs in 2/3 of an inning. Tommy
Hunter preserved the game for Alvarado, recording his his 1st save. Ryan
Tepera(2-1) took the loss in relief. He surrendered 2 hits and 1 walk in 1
and 2/3 innings.
