At Comerica Park, the Detroit fans witnessed a great pitcher's duel. Daniel
Norris(2-2) finally bested his Seattle opposite, Mike Leake(2-1), by the
score of 3 to 1.
Detroit claimed the early lead in the first inning plating one baserunner on 2
base hits. For the game Detroit out-hit Seattle 11 to 5.
Shane Greene earned his 7th save. Leake was the loser. He pitched 6 and 1/3
innings giving up 9 hits and no walks.

Paul Blackburn tossed a complete game as the Oakland Athletics defeated the
Los Angeles(AL) Angels by the score of 4 to 3 at Angel Stadium.
Oakland scored the deciding run in the 8th inning. After an out was recorded,
Khris Davis ripped a solo home run. Los Angeles(AL) proved to be no trouble
in the bottom of the 9th.
The victory was credited to Blackburn(1-3) who went the distance, allowing 3
runs. The loss was charged to Bud Norris(0-2) in relief.

In a two run game the Atlanta Braves got by the New York (NL) Mets by the
score of 7 to 5.
Mike Foltynewicz(2-2) pitched a fine game. He surrendered 5 hits and 2 walks
in 6 and 1/3 innings. New York (NL) threatened in the 9th but Atlanta was
able to put down the rally.
Zack Wheeler(1-2) was charged with the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 6 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings. 'We just made a lot of mistakes,
mostly mental,' Terry Collins said. 'It's bad enough when the other team
beats you, but when you start beating yourselves, that's really bad.'

Odrisamer Despaigne came through with a solid 9 innings at Citizens Bank Park
where the Miami Marlins beat the Philadelphia Phillies 6 to
1.
Despaigne(2-2) pitched one of his finer games as he simply was too much for
the Philadelphia batters. He gave up just 5 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings
dropping his ERA from 7.43 to 4.84. Miami managed 13 hits in their victory.
Ben Lively(1-3) was tagged with the loss. He pitched 8 innings and
