The Philadelphia Phillies edged the Atlanta Braves at Citizens Bank Park by
the score of 4 to 3.
Philadelphia won the game with a run in the 8th inning. After an out was
recorded, Tommy Joseph doubled. One out later, Cameron Rupp stepped up to
the plate and he drew a walk. Nick Williams then smacked a single scoring
the run. Atlanta tried unsuccessfully to come back in the 9th.
Kevin Siegrist(2-0) got the win allowing no runs in 1 inning. Siegrist got
help from Hector Neris who earned his 2nd save. Jason Motte(0-1) was charged
with the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 2 hits in 1 and 1/3 innings.

One run was the difference at PETCO Park as the Miami Marlins defeated the San
Diego Padres 6 to 5.
Miami scored 4 runs in the decisive 6th inning with the help of 4 hits. The
key at-bat was by Justin Bour who silenced the stadium when he doubled
emptying the bases. San Diego threatened in the 9th but their rally came up
short.
Jose Urena(4-0) picked up the victory, allowing 4 runs in 6 innings. Brad
Ziegler preserved the game for Urena, recording his his 1st save. The loss
was charged to Dinelson Lamet(1-3). Despite taking the loss, he whiffed 10
batters in 5 innings.

Charlie Morton pitched a complete game and Carlos Beltran slammed a homerun as
the Houston Astros bested the Tampa Bay Rays 7 to 2 at Tropicana
Field.
Morton(2-2) was in control of the game from the outset. He allowed just 7
hits and no walks in 9 innings. Houston rapped out 9 hits for the afternoon.
