The Cincinnati Reds nipped the Chicago (NL) Cubs 3 to 2 at Great American Bpk
in a hard fought contest.
Drew Storen(2-0) put in a pedestrian relief performance just good enough for
the victory. He allowed 4 hits and no walks in 1 and 2/3 innings and
recorded 4 strikeouts. Raisel Iglesias, after tossing a perfect ninth, was
credited with his 7th save.
Koji Uehara(0-2) was given the loss in relief. He surrendered 1 hit and no
walks in 2 innings.

Center fielder Byron Buxton cracked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Minnesota
Twins defeated the Detroit Tigers 15 to 6 at Target Field.
Buxton made sure the Minnesota fans enjoyed themselves. He laced a base-hit
in the 4th inning, clubbed a two-run home run in the 4th inning and smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 7th inning. Minnesota bats were very productive
in the 4th inning with 8 runs on 6 hits. Minnesota ended up with 13 hits for
the game while Detroit had 10.
The victory went to Jose Berrios(1-2) who went 7 innings, allowing 3 runs.
Jordan Zimmermann(0-2) suffered the loss. The Minnesota ballclub's record
now stands at 11-7. With the loss Detroit now has a record of 8-10.

At Citi Field the Washington Nationals outdistanced the New York (NL) Mets by
a final score of 11 to 7.
Gio Gonzalez(1-3) had a fairly solid outing. He was reached for 7 hits and 2
