Right fielder Nick Markakis had 2 base hits and 2 RBI at SunTrust Park as the
Atlanta Braves beat the San Diego Padres by the count of 6 to 4.
Arodys Vizcaino(1-0) was brilliant in relief and registered the victory. He
surrendered only 1 hit and no walks in 3 innings. San Diego was retired
without difficulty in the 9th.
Vizcaino got help from Jim Johnson who earned his 1st save. Phil Maton(0-2)

Hanley Ramirez rocketed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Eduardo Rodriguez
delivered 8 solid innings as the Boston Red Sox bested the Tampa Bay Rays 4
to 2 at Fenway Park.
Ramirez helped send the fans home happy. He smashed a two-run homer in the
1st inning and delivered a solo blast in the 6th inning. Craig Kimbrel was
perfect in relief and gained credit for his 6th save.
Rodriguez(2-0) got credit for the victory, pitching 8 innings and allowing 2
runs. Jake Faria(2-1) was tagged with the loss. He gave up 6 hits and 3

the Chicago (NL) Cubs by a score of 2 to 1 at Wrigley Field.
Trevor Williams(2-0) pitched a fine game. He was reached for 4 hits and 3
walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. Pittsburgh had 8 hits overall, while Chicago
(NL) had 5.
Williams got relief help from Felipe Rivero who gained credit for his 4th

Asher Wojciechowski mowed down 14 Milwaukee batters at Great American Bpk
where the Cincinnati Reds beat the Milwaukee Brewers 13 to 6.
Zack Cozart enjoyed a fine day at the plate. He doubled plating a run in the
1st inning, smacked a three-run homer in the 2nd inning and stroked a
base-hit in the 3rd inning. Cincinnati ended up with 18 hits for the game
while Milwaukee had 9.
The win went to Wojciechowski(1-0) who allowed 3 runs in 8 innings. Zach
Davies(0-1) suffered the loss. Cincinnati scored big getting 5 runs off him
in 2 innings.
Wojciechowski was pleased with his performance. He noted, 'I had good zip on
my pitches. Just as important, my location was right on. The fans really
got into the game too - that always helps me. Now, if I can only do that
again in my next outing.'
