Kirk Gibson had a big evening at the plate. He belted a three-run homer in the 5th inning and doubled bringing in a run in the 7th inning. Detroit totaled 12 hits on the night. Morris(8-4) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 4 runs. Mike Boddicker(8-3) was the loser. He was knocked around by Detroit, allowing 9 hits and 3 walks in 6 and 1/3 innings. 'After the stretch we have been through lately, this victory is especially sweet' offered Sparky Anderson. Now, we just have to make this the norm - not the exception!'
