Chicago (AL) came up with 8 runs in the 5th inning with the help of 6 hits. The critical plate appearance was by Jerry Hairston who quieted the crowd when he launched a three-run homer. Seattle had a chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short. Britt Burns(7-6) picked up the victory, allowing 5 runs in 8 innings. Bob James recorded his 15th save. Matt Young(6-6) was given the loss. He was knocked around by Chicago (AL), allowing 10 hits and 4 walks in 4 innings. When questioned about the loss, Chuck Cottier said, 'The fans got to see an exciting game out there tonight. Unfortunately, we couldn't get it done this time.
