MILWAUKEE AT KANSAS CITY
Brewers......... 1 1 3 0 1 0 1 0 0 - 7 10 0
Royals.......... 1 0 0 2 0 2 0 0 3 - 8 17 2
Win:Farr(6-3) Loss:Gibson(3-1)
Homeruns- C.Cooper(3rd), P.Householder(10th), H.McRae(5th)
Designated hitter Hal McRae hit a homerun and had 3 RBI at Royals Stadium as
the Kansas City Royals pulled off a dramatic comeback beating the Milwaukee
Brewers by the count of 8 to 7.
Kansas City came up with the deciding runs in the bottom of the 9th inning
scoring 3 runs using 4 hits. McRae led off and he ripped a one-base hit.
Frank White was next and he doubled. Steve Balboni was a strikeout victim,
unable to help out. Darryl Motley came up and he hit a single bringing in a
run. One out later, Dane Iorg stepped in and he was walked intentionally to
load the bases. Willie Wilson contributed to the rally and smacked a
base-hit giving Kansas City the win much to the delight of the home town
crowd. Milwaukee was not lacking for run support as they scored in 5
separate innings, yet victory eluded them as they seemed to forget that
pitching is also needed to win ballgames.
Steve Farr(6-3) got credit for the victory, pitching 2 innings and allowing no
runs. Bob Gibson(3-1) took the loss in relief. He was knocked around,
surrendering 4 runs in 2 and 2/3 innings.
'Now that is what I call fun! I just love baseball, especially games like
this, of course,' Dick Howser offered. 'Everyone at the stadium had a great
time - did you see the fans go wild there at the end?!'
