Reggie Jackson smashed 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Don Sutton delivered 9
solid innings as the California Angels ballclub embarrassed the Detroit
Tigers by the count of 11 to 0.
Jackson had a big day against Detroit. He lofted a solo-blast 'downtown' in
the 2nd inning and smashed a two-run homer in the 8th inning. California had
a total of 13 hits for the game.
For Sutton(6-3) it was his 2nd shutout this year. Walt Terrell(3-6) was hit
with the loss. He was not very effective, surrendering 9 runs in 7 and 1/3
innings.
Wth the win California now has a record of 23-23. With the loss Detroit now
has a record of 23-21.

In a good matchup it was the Toronto Blue Jays 6, the Cleveland Indians 4 at
Exhibition Stadium.
Toronto jumped out to the early lead in the first inning plating one
baserunner. After the 3rd inning, neither team was able to score.
The victory went to Dennis Lamp(7-3) who went 7 innings, allowing 4 runs. Bill
Caudill was credited with his 4th save. Jerry Reed(3-6) took the loss. He
surrendered 6 runs and 6 hits in 1 and 2/3 innings.
Toronto continued their winnings ways improving their record to 28-17. They
are 9-1 in their last ten games. With the loss, the Cleveland ballclub's
record is 19-27.

outscored the struggling Chicago (AL) White Sox 2 to 1.

Bert Blyleven had a strong outing and Tom Brunansky collected 2 extra-base
hits and had 2 RBI as the Minnesota Twins topped the Milwaukee Brewers by a
score of 6 to 0 at Metrodome.
Blyleven(8-6) was simply too much for the Milwaukee batters. He gave up just
4 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings reducing his ERA from 3.62 to 3.34. Minnesota
managed 9 hits in their victory.
Bob McClure(2-6) was given the loss. 'I thought it was my best performance in
a long time,' said Blyleven. 'I had good command early in the game. I had my
control and composure and everything went well.'
