Ted Simmons slammed a homerun and had 2 RBI at County Stadium as the Cleveland
Indians lost a heartbreaker to Milwaukee Brewers by the score of 8 to 7.
The game was decided in the 9th inning. After two outs Simmons delivered a
solo blast making Milwaukee the victor and beginning a joyous home town
celebration. This was the kind of game that many fans love as the lead
changed hands 5 times.
Jaime Cocanower(2-0) allowed 1 run in 2 and 1/3 innings, and picked up the
victory. Vern Ruhle(2-3) took the loss in relief. He pitched 2 and 2/3
innings and surrendered 2 hits and no walks.

Larry Parrish had 4 hits and 2 RBI at Royals Stadium as the Texas Rangers beat
the Kansas City Royals by the count of 8 to 3.
Parrish had a big day against Kansas City. He clubbed a two-run home run in
the 1st inning, tripled in the 3rd inning, slapped a base-hit in the 4th
inning and delivered a one-base hit in the 8th inning. Texas ended up with
16 hits for the game while Kansas City had 12.
Chris Welsh(3-3) got the win allowing 2 runs in 4 and 2/3 innings. Buddy
Black(3-5) was tagged with the loss. Texas knocked him around a bit, as he
gave up 8 runs in 4 and 1/3 innings.

Lloyd Moseby had 2 base hits and 2 RBI and Dave Stieb carried a no-hitter into
the 7th inning at Comiskey Park as the Toronto Blue Jays beat the ice-cold
Chicago (AL) White Sox 8 to 0.
Stieb(6-5) was indeed brilliant as he hand-cuffed the Chicago (AL) offense.
He didn't give up much, just 3 hits and 1 walk in 9 innings improving his ERA
from 2.87 to 2.58. The right-handed Stieb had his no-hit bid broken up by
Harold Baines who singled with two outs in the 7th inning. Toronto totaled
10 hits on the night.
Tom Seaver(4-5) was hit with the loss. He surrendered 10 hits and 3 walks in
9 innings.
