Detroit came up with 4 runs in the 2nd inning when they came up with 4 base
hits. They would prove to be the difference in the contest. Seattle had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
The victory went to Randy O'Neal(1-2) who went 6 innings, allowing 4 runs.
O'Neal got help from Guillermo Hernandez who was credited with his 8th save.
Jim Beattie(3-2) was tagged with the loss.

got by the Minnesota Twins by the score of 6 to 4.
Boston jumped on top to stay in the 4th inning as they scored 2 runs on 3 base
hits. The Minnesota bats were silent in the 9th.
The win was credited to Oil Can Boyd(5-3) who went 6 and 2/3 innings allowing
4 runs. Bob Stanley earned his 6th save. John Butcher(3-4) was given the
loss. He was knocked around by Boston, allowing 9 hits and 2 walks in 5 and
1/3 innings.
Boston, who had been struggling lately, moved their record to 18-25. They are
now 2-8 in their last ten games. With the loss, the Minnesota ballclub's
record is 20-23.
