Oakland scored the winning runs in the 9th inning plating 3 runs on 4 hits. Mike Heath opened up the inning nicely when he slapped a base-hit. Jose Canseco stepped up next and he ripped a single. Alfredo Griffin then drew a walk to load the bases. Carney Lansford came up and he banged out a single driving home two runs. Lansford took second on the throw. Bruce Bochte came up to bat and delivered a one-base hit making Oakland the winners and sending the 10,946 fans home happy. Oakland finished with 12 hits while Baltimore ended up with 7. Steve Ontiveros(4-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. The loss was charged to Sammy Stewart(4-1) in relief. Jackie Moore was ebullient after the game, 'It's great to win a hard fought game like that. Our guys just weren't going to be denied. And did you see the fans - they were going wild! Yes sir, a very enjoyable win this afternoon!'
