the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 5 to 1 at Municipal Stadium.

John Tudor allowed Whitey Herzog to rest his bullpen, tossing a complete game
as the St. Louis Cardinals outscored the Atlanta Braves 3 to 2.
The game was won by St. Louis when they scored a run in the 8th inning. After
an out was recorded, Willie McGee laced a single. McGee got a good lead and
stole second. Tom Herr got his chance to keep things going, but he went down
on strikes. Jack Clark followed and he laced a one-base hit scoring the run.
St. Louis had 9 hits for the afternoon.
Tudor(4-4) lasted until the end allowing 2 runs for the win. Gene Garber(1-2)
was tagged with the loss in relief. He gave up 1 run and 2 hits in 2
innings.

Ron Oester had 2 base hits and 2 RBI as the Cincinnati Reds bested the Chicago
(NL) Cubs in 13 innings 6 to 4 at Wrigley Field.
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Finally, Cincinnati
prevailed in the 13th inning. After an out was recorded, Buddy Bell started
the rally when he doubled. One out later, Dave Van Gorder came to bat and
was walked intentionally. Oester then doubled bringing in two baserunners.
Cincinnati rapped out 11 hits for the afternoon.
John Stuper(1-0) allowed no runs in 2 innings, and picked up the victory. Joe
Price was credited with his 1st save. The loss was charged to George
