In a thriling finish the Montreal Expos pulled off the win over the Los
Angeles Dodgers by a score of 4 to 3 at Olympic Stadium.
Montreal won the game with a run in the 9th inning. Tim Raines drew a walk.
Vance Law stepped up next and he laid down a sacrifice bunt. After another
out, Jim Wohlford was walked intentionally. Andres Galarraga followed and he
smacked a single giving Montreal the victory and sending the 25,549 home-town
fans home happy. Montreal had 9 hits for the night.
The victory went to Bert Roberge(1-0) who went 2 innings, allowing no runs.
Ken Howell(2-5) was charged with the loss in relief.

The San Francisco Giants edged the Philadelphia Phillies at Veterans Stadium
by the score of 3 to 2.
The game was won by San Francisco with a run in the 9th inning. After an out
was recorded, Bob Brenly drew a walk. Jose Uribe was next and he lashed a
single. Uribe was running on the next pitch and he stole second. Rob Deer
stepped in and he hit a sacrifice fly scoring the run. San Francisco had
only 6 hits for the night.
The victory was credited to Greg Minton(1-1) who went 1/3 of an inning,
allowing no runs. Minton got relief help from Scott Garrelts who gained
credit for his 3rd save. Don Carman(2-3) ended up with the loss in relief.
