Floyd Bannister(1-0) pitched well enough to earn the win. He went 6 and 1/3 innings and surrended up 6 hits and 3 walks and allowed 3 gopher balls. Baltimore threatened in the 9th but their rally came up short. Bob James was credited with his 11th save. Storm Davis(4-3) took the loss. He allowed 11 hits and 2 walks in 7 and 1/3 innings. 'Just one or two mistakes were all it took to beat us tonight' Earl Weaver said. 'We take these games one day at a time, but this one was hard to take.'
