Jeffrey Leonard went yard and had 3 RBI at Candlestick Park as the San
Francisco Giants beat the Chicago (NL) Cubs by the count of 11 to 5.
Leonard had a good day at the plate. He lined a one-base hit in the 2nd
inning, tripled scoring two baserunners in the 5th inning and smashed a
bases-empty 'big-fly' in the 8th inning. San Francisco had 18 hits overall,
while Chicago (NL) had 5.
The victory was credited to Mark Davis(2-0) who went 2 and 1/3 innings,
allowing no runs. Ray Fontenot(1-1) was the losing pitcher in relief. He
gave up 4 hits and no walks in 2 and 2/3 innings.

Fernando Valenzuela went 8 and two third solid innings as the Los Angeles
Dodgers outscored the St. Louis Cardinals in 12 innings 1 to 0.
The score was knotted at zero after nine innings. Los Angeles won the game in
the 12th inning. After an out was recorded, Mariano Duncan tripled. Pedro
Guerrero came next and he slapped a one-base hit giving Los Angeles the
victory as 55,257 happy fans celebrated wildly. Both teams finished the game
