Right fielder Lee Lacy had 2 base hits as the Baltimore Orioles outscored the
Minnesota Twins 5 to 4.
Sammy Stewart(3-0) pitched a solid game. He went 7 and 2/3 innings and
surrended up 8 hits and 3 walks lowering his ERA to 1.97. Minnesota had a
chance to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
Nate Snell got the save, his 3rd. Bert Blyleven(4-3) took the loss. The
winning ways continue for Baltimore. They now have a record of 8-2 in recent
days. With the loss Minnesota now has a record of 11-12.

bested the Oakland Athletics 4 to 0 at Oakland Co Stadium.
Boston started with a bang, jumping out to an early lead in their half of the

Ron Kittle had 2 base hits at Tiger Stadium where the Chicago (AL) White Sox
beat the Detroit Tigers by the score of 2 to 1.
Chicago (AL) scored 1 run in the top of the 7th inning. Detroit threatened in
the 9th but Chicago (AL) was able to put down the rally.
The win was credited to Tom Seaver(3-1) who went 7 and 1/3 innings allowing 1
run. Bob James recorded the save, his 8th. Walt Terrell(2-3) absorbed the
loss. He gave up 6 hits and 2 walks in 9 innings.
'We won because we did the little things right.' Tony LaRussa said after the
game. 'This is why we practice things over and over and over, so when we get
in close games we don't make mistakes.'

Luis Sanchez delivered 5 solid innings at Anaheim Stadium as the California
Angels beat the Milwaukee Brewers by the count of 7 to 2.
Sanchez(1-1) earned the victory with a fine relief performance. He allowed
only 1 hit and no walks in 5 innings dropping his ERA from 2.41 to 1.90.
California had 12 hits overall, while Milwaukee had 5.
Sanchez got help from Donnie Moore who earned his 3rd save. Ray Burris(1-2)
was the loser. He was touched for 3 homeruns in his 5 and 1/3 innings of
work.
With this win, California has a 9-16 record. They have been 4-6 lately.
George Bamberger was pretty down after the loss. 'We've really been
sputtering along lately, something like 2-8 in the last week or two. That
won't get it done.'
