Left fielder Mike Young left the yard and had 3 RBI as the Baltimore Orioles
outscored the Minnesota Twins 6 to 4.
Mike Boddicker(5-1) gave Baltimore a solid outing. He was reached for 8 hits
and 2 walks in 8 and 1/3 innings. Minnesota tried unsuccessfully to come
back in the 9th.
Don Aase recorded his 3rd save. Mike Smithson(2-3) was the losing pitcher.
He was hit hard and gave up 13 hits and 2 walks in 6 and 2/3 innings.
Ray Miller was subdued after the ballgame, 'That one really hurts. If our
guys had simply played more fundamentally sound, we could have won that one.
That is what really ticks me off!'

Jim Rice rocketed 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI at Oakland Co Stadium where the
Boston Red Sox beat the Oakland Athletics 5 to 4.
Rice enjoyed a fine evening at the plate. He belted a three-run homer in the
3rd inning and blasted a solo shot in the 5th inning. Oakland had a chance
to come back in the 9th but they came up short.
The victory was credited to Roger Clemens(4-1) who went 8 and 2/3 innings,
allowing 4 runs. Bob Stanley was credited with his 3rd save. The loss was
charged to Chris Codiroli(2-2). He pitched 5 innings allowing 6 hits and 5
walks.

the California Angels topped the Milwaukee Brewers by a score of 7 to 3 at
Anaheim Stadium.

walks. California managed 9 hits in their victory.
Teddy Higuera(2-3) was the loser. He gave up 9 hits and 5 walks in 8 innings.
