Lou Whitaker had 2 base hits as the Detroit Tigers outscored the Milwaukee
Brewers 3 to 1.
Milwaukee found themselves trailing quickly as the Detroit bats came through
in the first inning scoring one runner. Milwaukee out-hit Detroit 12 to 7,
but Detroit ended up with more runs.
The victory was credited to Jack Morris(4-1) who went 6 and 2/3 innings,

Mike Easler had 5 hits as the Boston Red Sox defeated the Kansas City Royals
in 13 innings by a score of 5 to 4 at Fenway Park.
Both teams were tied at 4 runs apiece after nine innings. Boston came out the
victor in the 13th inning. After an out was recorded, Easler slapped a
base-hit. Steve Farr then let one get away for a wild pitch. Marty Barrett
then reached on an error. One out later, Jim Rice came to bat and doubled
giving Boston the win as 30,011 happy fans joyfully celebrated. Boston had
14 hits for the game and Kansas City had 9.
Bruce Kison(1-1) went 4 and 1/3 innings allowing no runs for the victory.
Farr(1-2) absorbed the loss in relief. It was a tough loss for him as he did
not allow an earned run in his 4 and 2/3 innings of work.
