Shortstop Spike Owen launched 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI as the Seattle Mariners
defeated the California Angels in 10 innings by the score of 3 to 1 at The
Kingdome.
Both teams had scored 1 runs after nine full innings. Seattle came out the
victor in the 10th inning. Alvin Davis led off and started the attack as he
stroked a single. Reynolds swiped second base. After an out was recorded,
Owen then blasted a two-run home run resulting in an exciting win for Seattle
and a raucous post-game celebration by the home town fans. Seattle rapped
out 7 hits for the night.
The winning pitcher was Roy Thomas(3-0) who allowed no runs in 4 innings. Stew
Cliburn(1-4) was given the loss in relief. He gave up 2 hits and no walks in
2/3 of an inning.

Ken Dixon completed the game without help from the bullpen as the Baltimore
Orioles topped the Cleveland Indians by a score of 7 to 1 at Memorial
Stadium.
Cleveland found themselves trailing quickly as the Baltimore bats came through
in the first inning plating one baserunner on 2 hits. Baltimore managed 10
hits in their victory.
The win was credited to Dixon(2-2) who went the whole way allowing 1 run. Don
Schulze(0-4) was the losing pitcher. The Baltimore ballclub's record now
stands at 10-6. With the loss, the Cleveland ballclub's record is 3-13,
worst in the division.
