Left fielder Phil Bradley knocked 2 homeruns and had 3 RBI and Frank Wills
tossed a complete game at The Kingdome as the Seattle Mariners beat the
California Angels by the count of 9 to 2.
Bradley made sure the Seattle fans enjoyed themselves. He cracked a solo
homerun in the 1st inning, slapped a single in the 5th inning and popped a
two-run clout over the fence in the 6th inning. Seattle banged out 10 hits
on the night.
Wills(1-0) picked up the complete game victory, allowing 2 runs. The loss was
charged to Don Sutton(0-3). He allowed 3 homeruns in 4 and 2/3 innings of
work.

The game started off with Baltimore taking the lead in the first scoring a
single run utilizing 2 base hits. Baltimore finished with 10 hits while
Cleveland ended up with 7.
Storm Davis(2-2) went 8 innings allowing 1 run for the victory. Jamie
Easterly(0-5) was charged with the loss. Baltimore knocked him around a bit,

Robin Yount had 2 base hits and Teddy Higuera retired 10 batters on strikeouts
at County Stadium where the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Detroit Tigers 4 to
3.
Higuera(2-1) was in control of the game from the outset. He didn't allow
much, just 5 hits and 3 walks in 9 innings. Detroit proved to be no trouble
in the 9th.
Walt Terrell(2-1) ended up with the loss. Sparky Anderson was upset after the
game. 'I don't like to complain but did you see that umpires strike zone?',
he said. 'Maybe they ought to start calling the strike zone the way it's
printed in the rule book.'

Dusty Baker ripped 2 homeruns and had 4 RBI as the Oakland Athletics defeated
the Minnesota Twins by the score of 9 to 2 at Metrodome.
Baker was a thorn in the side of the hometown fans as he enjoyed a fine day at
their team's expense. He ripped a single in the 1st inning, smashed a
two-run homer in the 3rd inning and clubbed a two-run home run in the 7th
inning. Oakland ended up with 14 hits for the game while Minnesota had 5.
The win was credited to Steve McCatty(2-0) who went 5 innings allowing 1 run.
John Butcher(2-1) was given the loss. He was not very effective,
surrendering 7 runs in 6 and 2/3 innings.
